Dive, Kite, Kayak, and Surf Safaris (seasonal)

Adventure sport safaris out of El Nido mix adrenaline-fueled fun with the unparalleled natural beauty of North Palawan. El Nido’s west side gets consistent waves from November to March, while east-facing islands in the Linapacan and Calamian groups are buffeted by stiff northeast tradewinds during the same period. Conditions during these months are perfect for kitesurfing, wingfoiling, or surf safaris, while kayaking and dive safaris are possible most of the year.

On our kitesufing safari, spend a day sailing in stupendous Bacuit Bay (wind permitting), before heading around the north tip of Palawan to the blustery Linapacan Islands, where a slew of east-facing beaches make ideal launch sites. Longer trips continue south to the islands of Taytay Bay and notoriously windy Aracelli Island, which bears the full brunt of the amihan (northeast monsoon) churning across the Sulu Sea. Wingfoiling and windsurfing options are available as well.

Surf safaris hone in on west-facing beaches in El Nido and on the outer islands of Bacuit Bay and the Calamian Group. The extreme north of Busuanga has particularly promising surf (just don’t tell anybody). Although access can be tricky, it’s worth it to be riding dream waves with nobody on them.

Dive safaris of all stripes are possible from November to June. Heading north out of El Nido, the most popular destinations are the Linapacan Group, the wrecks of Coron Bay, and Apo Reef north of Coron – the crown jewel of Philippine scuba diving. The remote Cuyo Islands are another option. Send us an inquiry for more information on our private liveaboard dive packages.
